At Wonder Years, Zara’s preschool room caters for children aged approx. 3 to 4
years. Zara is the preschool teacher with this age group. We are committed to
providing a loving and relaxed environment, where children can learn, explore and
have fun. Children are respected and given the opportunity to socialise with other
children of their own age. Zara acknowledges that all children are different, and
aims to be flexible and make changes as the needs of each child differ. Children
come first at Wonder Years as we allow their personalities blossom.
Zara helps children learn through play; a balance of child lead play and structured
play activities that allow children to develop at their own pace. It helps children gain
new knowledge and skill, for example; they start learning about numbers, letters
and words. Our curriculum also improves their communication and social skills
through playing and interacting with other children and adults. With us, children
develop many physical skills, for example; they learn to balance on play equipment

and they practice fine motor skills such as drawing with a pencil or cutting with a
scissors. Also, children develop new friendships and we also work towards getting
children ready for the transition to the next preschool stage or for some primary
school.
We offer both indoor and outdoor learning experiences which include; painting,
drawing, writing, playdough, puzzles, games, construction, books, sensory
activities, dancing, singing, jigsaws, musical instruments, sand play, playing with
the natural environment, water play, bubbles, slides and climbing. Zara helps
enhance your child’s learning experiences, abilities and knowledge.
Zara documents children’s learning experiences in their personal learning journals;
where all children's art work, photographs and learning stories are kept; for the
children to reflect on in the near future or in the years to come. These are on display
in our hallway and you are welcome to look through them any time. Zara works in
consultation with parents and welcomes their input and expertise.
