Michelle’s Preschool Room caters for preschool children aged between 3 ½ and 5 years approx. We have tailored our curriculum to the two preschool years to avoid repetition and ensure that children are presented with new, fun challenges throughout their time here.

We provide a play-based curriculum where each child’s interests and needs form our daily routine. We understand that the preschool years are especially important and lay the foundations of your child’s primary education.

We know that play empowers children by allowing them to be spontaneous and to plan, make choices and decisions, explore, experiment, role play and be creative.  Our daily routine is more structured than the others rooms, giving more responsibility and control, which helps in preparation for school and life. Children are encouraged to be independent and do much more for themselves in this room. Children are introduced to elements of pre-reading, pre-handwriting and early mathematics and science in preparation for school, all the while focusing on learning by having fun, in an exciting and challenging way.

We work in consultation with parents and welcome their input and expertise in development of our curriculum and daily running of our room. Parents are encouraged to become involved in their child’s learning and asked to make time to read about what we do on a daily basis, this will be displayed on our room window, on our website blog and in your child’s scrapbook. Every child’s journey is unique and is recorded in a Learning Journey Scrapbook that is filled with paintings, collages, drawings, learning stories, observations and photographs of your child and their preschool adventures.

We actively encourage outdoor play and take full advantage of the huge outdoor area we have at our disposal. We have recently developed a vegetable patch, in which we successfully grew tomatoes, potatoes, sweetcorn, brussels sprouts and even three pumpkins! We believed a messy child is a happy child and offer sensory play experiences on a daily basis both indoor and outdoor: sand, water, slime, pasta, oats, gloop ect, so please ensure your child isn’t wearing ‘good clothes’.
